Public Involvement

The Illinois Department of Transportation encourages public participation for the IL 18 River Bridge Project.  The Department will be seeking input from stakeholders of the communities, agencies, businesses, and the general public.  Several activities provide opportunities for public input:

  • Interested persons may request to be placed on a mailing list to receive a newsletter & project updates regarding the study. The newsletter & project updates will also be posted on this website under Reports/Documents.

  • Two open house public informational meetings are planned for the project.  At these meetings, the IDOT Study Team will display exhibits, provide information, and solicit input on the study.

  • Once an environmental document has been drafted, a public hearing will be held to inform the public of the study findings and to gather input on the proposal.

  • A Community Advisory Group has been created to provide input to the IDOT Study Team and to facilitate two-way communication between IDOT and the stakeholders of the project.

  • This website provides an additional mechanism to send comments to and ask questions of the IDOT Study Team here.

  • A Community Context Audit is available for members of the public to complete and submit to IDOT in order to provide input on the valued community elements in the study area.
